Employment Portfolio
The bulk of your grade for the careers unit will be the Employment Portfolio
Project. For this project, you will be required to assemble several types of
employment correspondence, including a resume. Be sure to include the following documents:
- An attractive cover page
- Career Investigation Section
- What motivates you
- Career quiz information
- Paper about possible careers
- Four classified job advertisements (that you qualify for)
- Job Search Documents
- A typed employment application (use a typewriter to complete
or handwrite very neatly)
- Resume
- Two different cover letters (for two different positions)
- Other Employment Documents
- A letter requesting a reference letter from a teacher (a letter you write to
a teacher asking them to be a reference)
- A copy of a reference letter from a teacher
(a letter from a teacher "to whom it may concern" talking about your
qualifications)
- An interview follow-up letter (thank-you letter you would
send after an interview)
- A job acceptance letter
- A job refusal letter
- A resignation letter
- Summary
- Summary questions from career unit plan
Most of these documents will be required during the course of this unit, but if the document is not assigned, you are still required to create one for your portfolio. All documents must be in perfect form for your portfolio and should be submitted as many times as necessary to achieve "perfection." Good luck!
